Wild Wild West Trail Marathon – Where Mountains Meet Grit
The Wild Wild West Trail Marathon is a challenging and awe-inspiring journey through the iconic landscapes of Lone Pine, California — a course that showcases the very best of the Eastern Sierra and the legendary Alabama Hills.
Starting in the historic town of Lone Pine at 3,700 feet, the marathon route takes runners deep into the high desert, across rugged singletrack, and through the cinematic rockscapes that have made the Alabama Hills famous. Along the way, you’ll pass beneath massive granite outcroppings, sweep by the unforgettable Miss Alabama Rock, and climb into the foothills of the mighty Sierra Nevada.
With approximately 3,000 feet of elevation gain, the course delivers a perfect balance of runnable stretches, technical climbs, and fast descents — all set against a backdrop of towering peaks and wide-open desert sky. The views of Mt. Whitney and the Inyo Mountains are unforgettable, and the sense of scale and solitude is something only the high desert can offer.
Runners will be supported by multiple fully stocked aid stations, friendly volunteers, and a finish-line celebration that welcomes every runner home. Whether you’re building toward an ultra, aiming for a tough spring marathon, or simply want a full day of wild beauty on the trails — this course will challenge your legs, fill your lungs, and stay in your memory long after the finish line.
This isn’t just 26.2 miles — it’s a full-on mountain experience. Are you ready to run wild?
